Glock 43 Vs 43x Mos - When you're looking for a concealed carry pistol, the choice often comes down to two main contenders that are very similar, yet different enough. frontier.

Glock pistols have a well-deserved reputation for quality, accuracy and reliability. They are known for their high ammo capacity, double stack magazines and polymer frames. Single stock concealed carry pistols in 9mm were their forte until April 14, 2015 when they released the Glock 43.

The G43 was followed by a slightly smaller single stock in 380 ACP called the G42. The primary competition at the time for the G43 was the S&W M&P Shield line of handguns. The Shield was designed as a small carry pistol and Glock realized that this was the segment of the market they needed to go after.

However, some G43 shooters have complaints about Glock's new carry pistol. They felt that the grip was too low. For some it was too narrow and for others the grip length was too short to shoot accurately and comfortably. A simple answer is to add a magazine extension that optionally increases magazine capacity, but a longer grip is really necessary.

Glock answered the call by producing the G43X. A slightly larger single stock concealed carry pistol with a longer grip and 10 round magazine capacity unlike the G43. So which is better? Read more about the 43 and 43X below.

The names of these two pistols are so similar that they can be a bit confusing for those who use firearms or those who use the Glock family of firearms. However, they differ with their own unique advantages, requiring a more detailed comparison.

Although the two compact Glock pistols look similar on the surface, the difference between the 43 and 43X is enough that, based on naming convention, Glock prefers to use a different number instead of adding an X to the nomenclature.

As mentioned earlier, the G43 is a compact single-stock concealed carry pistol. You could really call it a compact Glock because it has such a small footprint. Barrel length is 3.41 inches and pistol length is approximately 6.26 inches. This pistol measures 1.08 inches in width and 4.25 inches in height. It holds 6 rounds in the factory magazine and weighs 20.64 ounces.

In contrast, the slightly larger Glock 43X has the same barrel length, but an overall length of 6.05 inches. It has a longer slide and is ¾ inch longer at 5.04 inches because the 10-round magazine requires a slightly longer grip frame. It tips the scales at 23.07 ounces. The biggest noticeable difference is that the slide has an nPVD coating that gives it a silver finish compared to the flat black finish of the G43. However, Glock recently released the 43X, which also features a black slide.

Both pistols lack the accessory rail that has been the mainstay of nearly all Glock models for nearly 20 years. This may have been done to increase the coverage factor of each gun. However, some companies, such as Streamlight, offer gun-mounted visible white lights and visible lasers that cover the trigger guard. These allow the shooter to attach a compact and robust gun-mounted light.

The new version of the 43X has an optical mount disc as an upgrade. There is currently no such option for the G43.

The only significant difference between the two pistols is that the 43X slide is cast forward with cocking serrations, while the G43 has only the rear serrations milled into the spool. It's a good choice for shooters who don't have the hand strength to mount the slide by holding only the rear teeth. Weight checks are not a bad idea, especially during tactical pistol training.

A byproduct of the larger G43X is increased factory magazine capacity. In this case it's 10 shots compared to the G43's 6 shot capacity. It should be noted that magazines are not interchangeable between the G43 and G43X. Therefore, when looking for a spare magazine for a pistol, make sure you get the right magazine.

If you have large hands, the extra length of the G43X's grip may make sense with the longer magazine and higher capacity.

Subcompact pistols such as the G43 and G43X are not recognized as bullet powerhouses due to their short sight range, compact ergonomics, and relatively light weight. However, when you read reviews online or in various gun magazines, both of these pistols are reasonably accurate depending on the ammo and skill level of the shooter.

Both the G43 and G43X seem to average 2-3 inches at 50 feet. This can be improved by adding aftermarket triggers or even adding a micro-red sight like the Shield Systems sight, which is small enough to ride unobtrusively on the slides of these compact pistols. Depending on the shooter, the differences in accuracy can be small or significant. Especially shooters with larger hands may find the 43X more accurate with slightly wider and longer grips than the 43. A shooter with very small hands may feel the opposite. In fact, most shooters won't notice a difference in accuracy. Through trial and error, you can borrow a friend's pistol for field practice or visit an indoor shooting range with well-stocked rental parts to figure out what works best for you.

Small guns like these are often unfairly criticized and lumped into the "carry often; fire rarely" category. Carrying often is never a bad thing; Rarely does it burn. Both pistols are reliable and reasonably accurate. The 43X offers better grip than most shooters

None of these micro-glocks seem to have major issues in terms of performance or reliability. As with all Glock pistols, their design and testing process before being released into the market is very smooth. Everyone performs at their desired level before entering the public sphere.

With this information in mind and without a subcompact Glock in your hands; 43X might sound more attractive. Doesn't the more comfortable grip frame, increased magazine capacity and silver slide sound like a very nice development and a better pistol?

Then you have to get away from the written word and nice pictures and physically pick each one up to see how they handle and feel.

If the G43 has a clear advantage over its sibling, the 43X is a bit more concealable. Reading the size comparison above might not reveal it, but trying to carry it in a holster or ankle holster will definitely reveal the difference.

As you know, the grip is the hardest part of any gun to conceal. It may not be as wide or tall as a 10mm G20 or G40 grip frame, but sometimes just inches or fractions of an inch can make a huge difference between concealed carry and a "printable" handgun. Similarly, the G43 may be more suitable for ankle wear.

It depends on how comfortable you are as a shooter with the G43 or G43X. Hand size plays a role here, as does concealment. The pistol can be carried openly without being concealed, but an open carry shooter might want to look at the larger and easier-to-shoot G19 or G17 models compared to these compact Glocks.

All things being equal, it comes down to aesthetics. Some may prefer the silver of the 43X over the black finish of the G43. For some shooters, the opposite may be true.

Ultimately, it's up to you. The slightly larger size and increased magazine capacity may be more appealing to some shooters, while others appreciate the G43's smaller size and weight. The bottom line is, you can't go wrong with either of these two pistols. It all depends on personal preference. Deciding between the Glock 43X and 43?
